How to Become a Community Ambassador

    Ambassadors commit to educating their communities on essential cybersecurity concepts, focusing on the relevance and application of best practices in daily life.
  2. Empower and Support Others
    Ambassadors strive to make cybersecurity resources accessible, considering their community’s diverse needs and capabilities. They help individuals, families, and student chapters gain confidence in their digital interactions and foster a sense of digital responsibility.
  3. Lead with Integrity and Respect
    Ambassadors uphold high ethical standards, act transparently, and respect the privacy and confidentiality of all individuals they serve. Ambassadors demonstrate exemplary digital citizenship, promoting safe online behaviors, ethical conduct, responsible data handling in their communities, and leading by example.
  4. Adapt and Learn Continuously
    Recognizing that cybersecurity threats evolve rapidly, ambassadors commit to staying informed and proactive, regularly updating their knowledge to ensure they share accurate and current information.
  5. Develop Leadership and Communication Skills
    Ambassadors develop essential communication, leadership, and community engagement skills, ensuring they can effectively convey complex topics to various audiences, including student groups, seniors, and community members with different levels of digital literacy.
  6. Foster Collaboration and Community Engagement
    Cybersecurity is a collective effort. Ambassadors actively collaborate with peers, community leaders, and student chapters, sharing resources and supporting one another in raising cybersecurity awareness.

    Develop and strengthen the community’s cybersecurity literacy by building a network of informed ambassadors who serve as trusted sources of guidance and support.
Support for Community Ambassadors

Community and Collaboration

  1. Discord Channel
    A dedicated Discord server to foster a sense of community among ambassadors, enabling them to share experiences, discuss challenges, and exchange resources in real-time.
  2. GitHub Repository
    We will host a GitHub site for sharing materials, toolkits, templates, and resources created by and for ambassadors. This repository can serve as a collaborative space for improving and expanding content.
  3. Speakers Bureau
    A centralized Speakers Bureau will handle and coordinate community requests, connecting ambassadors with local groups, schools, and organizations needing cybersecurity education and support.

Educational and Outreach Materials

  1. CyberEd Website
    Access to the CyberEd website, which offers a rich library of cybersecurity modules, lesson plans, infographics, templates for hands-on workshops, interactive activities, and step-by-step guides for ambassadors to use in community sessions.
  2. Cyber House Rock Videos
    Access to the library of Cyber House Rock videos that explain complex cybersecurity concepts in an accessible, engaging format. These videos can be used in presentations or shared directly with the community.

Training and Development

  1. Ongoing Training and Certification
    Access to training sessions (both online and in-person) covering cybersecurity fundamentals, emerging threats, effective communication skills, and sector-specific content to keep ambassadors updated and engaged.
  2. Micro-Credentials and Digital Badges
    We will offer a micro-credentialing system to certify ambassadors, with tiered badges reflecting increasing levels of expertise and commitment. These can be displayed on resumes or LinkedIn profiles to recognize ambassadors’ achievements and skills.
  3. Annual Cybersecurity Ambassador Summit
    We will host an annual event or summit (virtual or in-person) to gather ambassadors for training, networking, and skill development. This event can also showcase exemplary ambassadors and offer deeper dives into cybersecurity topics.

Support and Engagement Tools

  1. Quarterly Newsletter
    We will create a newsletter to inform ambassadors about new resources, program updates, cybersecurity news, and success stories from other ambassadors.
  2. Customized Marketing Materials
    Access to flyers, social media post templates, and other branded materials to help ambassadors promote their events and activities within their communities.
